Don't Like Your Job/Don't Have a Job?

This issue is really about choices. If you or someone you know is without a job, it might seem as though you are out of control. You are not. If you will open your mind and think outside the box, there are always options. For many, perhaps the traditional job search has exhausted its course. Don't be afraid to siege other opportunities. For others, there is the perfect position right in your grasp. Either way, GO FOR IT !!!
People all too often gripe about their work, their vocation, their career, their profession. They know they don't like doing what they are doing or where they are doing it (about 75% of workers think this way). But when asked what they want to do instead, they are not sure. More times than not, they go into a kind of tailspin as they describe reasons why they can't pursue what they really want to do.

It is very sad that so many people are currently out of work. Most people are excited just to get a job, any job, if they can. While this is perhaps not the best time to be choosy about the type of work you do, it is a great time to do some soul-searching. Most people are not looking at this downturn in the economy as an opportunity, but in one sense, it is.

It is an opportunity to do some self-discovery, to look at untraditional options, to explore self-employment, or to engage in retraining for a different job in a different industry, as well as many other options.

Yes, there are few jobs out there in most fields; however, there are plenty of jobs out there even if it means creating one through self-employment. What do you need to do to become a good candidate for one of them? What skills, talents, and jobs will the future ask for? What transferable skills do you currently have that if navigated correctly could land you one of those open slots?

Position yourself so that you don't have to worry about ever being laid off, downsized or terminated. Explore entrepreneurial opportunities that are available. There are many low-investment franchises or legitimate Multi-level Marketing opportunities that will match and even pass your income. Start now by planning for two,
three, even five years down the road. Don't stop at looking just to tomorrow, next month or next year for what work you will be doing. Think strategically and long-term. If you do, the next time a recession hits, you will be among those least affected by it.
